A novel suggestion: Canada is once again in the middle of an angst-fest re its role in sending Arab-Canadians to be tortured in Syria. Here’s the Ceeb on the subject, and, to add insult to injury, here’s Harpoon Siddiqui. In the midst of the hysteria (which, admittedly, isn't quite as over the top as it was during the Arar affair) there’s one still small voice of reason—Tarek Fatah—who suggests that instead of tearing out our hair and rending our garments over our supposed culpability, we blame the torturers.

Blame the people who actually did the torture? What a concept! I doubt it'll catch on, though, since there's nothing Canadians love more than being told they're "bigots" so they can take a good, long wallow in Lake Guilt.

Ideas on CBC Radio 1 had a good one hour interview with Tarek Fatah recently. Here is the link to the program and audio.

Personally, my fellow Canadians can tear their morality-free, ethics-free hair out all they want over this issue. Fact is, Maher Arar never DID explain his time in Afghanistan. The many "coincidences" that brought known terrorists into Arar's life here in Canada were never explored or explained.

But I'd bet dollars to donuts that the Harper government is watching Maher Arar VERY closely, including what he does with the millions of dollars he STOLE from Canadians.

As for the Canadian BiasBroadcasting Corporation, I have this to say: FIRE THEM ALL.
