Ed comes out: A more or less intact version of this CJN piece by Ed Morgan, a U of T law prof and former head of the Canadian Jewish Congress, appears in today’s National Post under the heading FIGHT BAD SPEECH WITH GOOD SPEECH (sorry, can’t find the Post linky). In it he admits that he was dead wrong about wanting to censor free speech. The call-out says it all: “The road of censorship for the sake of promoting tolerance may lead to the heights of intolerance.”

Mes amis—this is huge, a clear sign that free speechers are making strides, while Bernie, Elmo, Harpoon and all the little kommissars remain stuck in the bad thinking of the past.

Old Bernie, by the way, must be having a cow over Ed’s defection. Don’t count on his article showing up on the CJC site anytime soon—or ever.
